Green4Good is an environmental initiative of Compugen Finance Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Compugen Inc. Green4Good extends the life of computers through secure wiping, refurbishment and resale, and ensures that components of computers being recycled do not go to landfill but are properly recycled. The net proceeds of refurbishment and recycling through Green4Good can be donated to a charity of choice by the owner of the assets, permitting a social benefit from what previously was typically a business cost for warehousing or recycling. The primary environmental, specifically GHG-reduction benefit of the program, is that a computer kept in operation is a computer that does not need to be replaced with new equipment, and thus the significant environmental cost of building new computers is deferred.

What worked? What needed improvement? What motivated contestants and what got community members excited? We've captured insights on the ClimateSpark Social Venture Challenge in a final report that, in the spirit of open collaboration, we are sharing widely. We hope these findings will be useful to anyone interested in open innovation and crowd sourcing. Meanwhile, they are already informing our thinking about future Challenges. Have an idea for a challenge or interested in using the ClimateSpark platform for your own challenge? We'd love to talk - contact Mary Pickering to start the conversation.
