Fair play and ClimateSpark - Important Notice

As of 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27th, we have removed one contestant and cautioned another for "gaming."  These contestants have attempted to drive down fellow contestants ratings by recording large numbers of one-star ratings.  Such activity by a contestant or someone closely associated with a contestant is a violation of the expectations and spirit of the competition.   It is upsetting to fellow contestants, who participate on the basis of community goodwill and fair play, and a waste of Challenge management time and resources in having to police such activity.

Independent reviewers (reviewers not associated or working with contestants) are, of course, free to give contestants entries any rating they like, including one star.  But we would ask you to seriously consider the full value of a proposal before clicking one or ten.

We have seen a tremendous spirit of collaboration and cooperation in the ClimateSpark Challenge to date and we are confident that this spirit of fair play and honest critique will continue to guide our contestants and reviewers.

Your efforts to keep the process pure are greatly appreciated by us all.

BTW, this is the first opportunity I have seen for participants (proponents and reviewers) to comment on the process or issues of common interest.  Can I suggest it might be worthwhile to have a discussion room, especially to help build collaboration around common themes or to make suggestions on improving the process.

thank you
